A fire erupted in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State, in the early hours of Wednesday, causing an estimated N22.4 million worth of property damage.
The incident occurred around 01:30 hours in Tanke-Oke Odo, situated along the University of Ilorin Road within the Ilorin South Local Government Area.
This event follows closely on the heels of another fire outbreak in the Tanke area at Zion Overcomer, opposite Suleiman Durosyloun House.
According to the spokesman of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle, “Upon arrival, our firefighters effectively extinguished the fire that engulfed 16 metal kiosks and affected seven shops.”
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, attributed the fire incident to a power surge and emphasized the importance of safety consciousness among the general public.
