Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party during the 2023 general election, has called on the federal government to provide adequate funding to the military and other security agencies to enhance their operations. Obi made the call after the recent accidental military airstrike in Tudun Biri village in Kaduna State, which resulted in casualties.
The former governor of Anambra State visited the victims of the incident on Tuesday, December 12, at Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital. He alleged that there have been sixteen accidental military bombings in the country, which have resulted in the deaths of over 500 people. He also pointed out that the federal government has not taken any action to prevent such incidents from happening again.
To prevent future occurrences, Obi urged the government to provide necessary support and assistance to the armed forces.
Obi pointed out that addressing the current and future security threats facing the country requires sufficient resources for the armed forces.
He was in favour of the establishment of a foundation to provide for the victims of the Tudun Biri drone assault, especially those who have been left orphaned by the event, and he also backed requests for a probe into the military air strike.
