AA disowns Kogi gov candidate’s petition against Ododo

The Kogi State Chapter of the Action Alliance has distanced itself from its governorship candidate, Olayinka Brahimoh, who filed a lawsuit challenging the governor-elect, Alhaji Usman Ododo, winner of the November 11 governorship poll.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olu Omotoso, this decision was made during an emergency National Executive Committee meeting.

According to the statement, the party’s national chairman, Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, clarified the party’s stance, indicating a reluctance to pursue legal action against the governor-elect. Omoaje explained that Brahimoh operated independently without consulting the party after becoming the candidate.

Expressing dissatisfaction with Brahimoh’s unilateral approach, Omoaje stated,  “From the moment INEC published the final list of candidates for the Kogi governorship election, Olayinka Brahimoh, our adopted candidate for that election, deliberately built an edge around himself against the party, making it difficult to relate with him.”

Omoaje highlighted the party’s efforts to engage with Brahimoh, citing instances where the latter declined to work with the party’s leadership. He recounted an incident involving Deputy National Chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Isa, who faced communication challenges while in Kogi State due to the lack of collaboration with Brahimoh’s team.

“Consequent upon the aforementioned, we are stating clearly here that our party, the Action Alliance, has no hand in the matter before the Kogi State Governorship Election Tribunal, and we say unequivocally that we are not interested in the matter at all”, he said.
