Kogi Guber: SDP Stakeholders deny filing petitions against Ododo at Tribunal

Stakeholders representing the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kogi State have refuted claims of submitting any petitions contesting the victory of the Governor-elect and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ahmed Usman Ododo, in the recent gubernatorial election.

Ayo Momodu, Chairman of the National Stakeholders Forum of the party, addressed journalists in Abuja on Friday to clarify this stance. This clarification comes following reports earlier in the week that an alleged SDP petition filed against the governor-elect at the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal was stolen during an incident involving armed individuals.

Reports indicated that the Tribunal’s Secretary, Mr. David Mike, asserted this after an altercation with suspected thugs.

However, Ayo Momodu dismissed the existence of such a petition, asserting that the SDP did not participate in contesting election results through legal avenues.

“The Secretary of the Election Petition Tribunal in Kogi State claimed he was attacked and petitions stolen.

“Let the truth be told that the petitions are not filed before the Secretaries of Tribunals but the registry.

“We wish to reiterate that neither the SDP nor its candidate filed a petition at the election tribunal”.
