Idris Dahiru, a resident, has reported that 34 of his family members fell victim to the Army’s drone strike during an event commemorating Maulud.
Iwitnesslive had reported that the tragic event occurred when a Nigerian Army drone targeted a gathering of villagers observing the annual Maulud celebration, leading to an unintended and catastrophic outcome.
While the Military expressed regret over the bombing, clarifying that it was aimed at terrorists, Dahiru shared a harrowing account of the incident in an interview with BBC Hausa.
He recounted the disruption of their Maulud celebration by unexpected airstrikes, describing the horrifying aftermath of the first bomb, which killed innocent people, including women and children. The situation escalated as a second bomb was unleashed when rescuers rushed to aid the injured, resulting in further casualties, including those who had come to provide assistance.
“Our annual Maulud celebration was shattered by unexpected airstrikes. The first bomb exploded without warning, killing innocent people, including women and children, some victims were torn apart by the blast.
“As we rushed to aid the injured, the jet returned, unleashing a second bomb, this time, many of those who had come to help were among the casualties.
“My family alone has lost 34 members in this tragedy. We have 66 loved ones receiving medical care at Barau Dikko hospital,” he said.
