A Jos Area Court handed a 24-year-old, Abba Adam, a 12-month jail term for the theft of a motorcycle valued at N350,000.
Judge Shawomi Bokkos delivered the sentence after the accused pleaded guilty and appealed for leniency. The judge also granted an alternative for the convict to pay a N30,000 fine.
The case was reported at Laranto police station on Nov. 22 by Mr. Shuaibu Nuhu, who stated that the accused unlawfully entered his premises and made away with his motorcycle, worth N350,000, which was parked there.
According to Inspector Labaran Ahmed, during police investigations, the accused admitted to the crime, and the stolen motorcycle was recovered from his possession.
The offense committed violates the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria.
