The Benue State Police Command paraded 25 suspects, including a 24-year-old man named Abara Elias, accused of defiling an eight-year-old boy. The suspects faced charges ranging from robbery, kidnapping, and cultism to rape and other offenses.
Commissioner of Police George Chuku informed journalists that the perpetrator lured the boy to an unfinished building while the child’s parents were away, where the assault occurred. The victim received medical care, and the suspect has been arraigned.
Additionally, Chuku reported an incident involving Ijir Joseph, who falsely claimed on December 2, 2023, at Wurikum Park that a corps member traveling to Port Harcourt had stolen his genitalia. This false accusation led to the assault of the corps member, who was later rescued by a police patrol team.
He said, “The victim was taken to hospital for treatment and the suspect was arraigned for defamation of character and assault.”
