Yobe govt warns officials against impunity, laxity

The Yobe State Government issued a stern warning to all executive secretaries of agencies and 17 education secretaries of Local Education Authorities (LEA) under the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, cautioning them against negligence and misconduct in carrying out their assigned duties.

During the state Education Council meeting in Damaturu, the capital city, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, delivered this warning, emphasizing the high expectations of the state’s populace. He urged these officials to employ their expertise and energy diligently to drive progress within their roles.

Dr. Idris stressed the importance of education stakeholders exerting themselves, displaying patriotism, exhibiting selfless dedication, upholding fairness and justice, and avoiding negligence and irresponsibility while fulfilling their public responsibilities.

“Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration is committed to addressing the challenge of out-of-school children, improving educational outcomes, growth, and development”, he said.

Assuring the education secretaries of adequate support from the state government, the Commissioner emphasized the provision of a conducive environment for their optimal functioning. However, he underscored the state’s insistence on tangible and impactful outcomes from their efforts.
