The likelihood of Nigeria international Victor Osimhen parting ways with Napoli has gained momentum, according to Italian football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Reports from IWITNESSLIVE Sports reveal that the striker is unlikely to renew his contract with the Italian champions.
Osimhen has been attracting interest from various European clubs, with Chelsea and Arsenal in the English Premier League reportedly at the forefront of the pursuit.
Despite Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis asserting multiple times that the club’s prized asset would not be sold, even if their €200m valuation was met, indications now suggest a different narrative. The development raises speculation about Osimhen’s next football destination, with potential implications for the upcoming transfer window.
“He’s under contract until June 2025, where should he go? Contracts should be respected.
“We have been on the same page with Osimhen since day one. Don’t be worried.
Napoli however risked losing the Nigerian in January or next whose current contract with the Partenopei is set to expire in 2025.
While the club have offered the Super Eagles striker an extended contract, Fabrizio, while speaking on the Kick streaming platform, gave an update on Osimhen’s future.
“For Victor Osimhen, it’s essential to clarify, as I’ve consistently mentioned since September, there’s no agreement between Napoli and Osimhen for a new contract,” Romano stated.
“He’s only contracted until June 2025, and my sources are quite clear – Osimhen isn’t inclined to sign a new deal at Napoli. That’s the current status as of today. Football is unpredictable, but the current stance appears firm – Osimhen won’t be renewing there.”
Osimhen recently returned to Napoli’s squad after recovering from an injury sustained during Nigeria’s match against Saudi Arabia.
