Ondo North District’s Senator, Jide Ipinsagba, has expressed strong disapproval of the candidates nominated for the interim management committee members for Akoko North East local government area. In a statement, Senator Ipinsagba highlighted that the list contradicted the nominations agreed upon by stakeholders within the locality.
Ipinsagba specifically pointed out that Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had sanctioned a list collaboratively compiled by the local government’s leaders, but this list was substituted with individuals from outside the area.
Concerned about the implications, Senator Ipinsagba cautioned the state-level party leadership against instigating unnecessary turmoil within the state.
The statement read: “What audacity! This is not only an affront to us as leaders but an insult and disrespect to the persons and offices of Mr. Governor and my humble self as a distinguished senator of the federal republic.
“Let me reiterate this that decision and announcement stands rejected by me as the leader of my local government. We will not accept any names aside from the ones already submitted to Mr. Governor.
“The list was compromised to favour the interests of a high-ranking federal government official who is not from the local government area.”
