President Bola Tinubu has arrived at the National Assembly complex for the 2024 budget presentation, arriving precisely at 11:04 am on Wednesday amidst heightened security measures.
Earlier this week, the Federal Executive Council greenlit the 2024 Appropriation Bill, now set at N27.5 trillion, marking an increase from the initially considered N26.01 trillion.
In preparation for this presentation, Tinubu had submitted the 2024 – 2026 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper to both chambers of the National Assembly three weeks ago, proposing a total expenditure of N26.1 trillion for the 2024 fiscal year.
Following comprehensive discussions and interactive sessions over two weeks, the Senate’s Committee on Finance, engaging with heads of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies on revenue and expenditure projections, approved the MTEF. It specifically endorsed the proposed N26.1 trillion budget and other outlined parameters forwarded by the President.
