Iwobi Delighted with First Fulham Premier League Goal

Fulham’s midfielder, Alex Iwobi, is savoring the thrill of not only scoring his first Premier League goal for the club but also contributing to their exhilarating 3-2 victory over Wolves on Monday night, according to IWITNESSLIVE Sports.
The Nigerian seized the moment in the seventh minute, marking both his debut goal for Fulham in the league and his 300th club appearance with a place on the scorer’s sheet. This achievement not only signifies his initial goal in the current Premier League season but also marks his fourth goal in nine encounters against Wolves, surpassing his goal count against any other team. Interestingly, Iwobi had also opened his scoring account last season against Wolves while playing for Everton.
The game witnessed a flurry of penalties following Iwobi’s early goal and Matheus Cunha’s equalizer for Wolves. Willian, responding from the spot, not only restored Fulham’s lead but also secured the winning goal from 12 yards after Hee Chang Hwang leveled the score 2-2 for Wolves with a penalty of his own. The match unfolded as a dramatic showcase of skill and precision, with Iwobi’s pivotal contribution standing out amid the action.

“That felt nice,” Iwobi posted on X after the game with different slides of himself celebrating with teammates, including fellow Nigeria international Calvin Bassey.

Fulham manager Marcos Silva also acknowledged the creativity of Iwobi, Willian and Andreas Pereira who all played behind the striker as the Cottagers returned to winning ways after back-to-back defeats.

“When you play with Willian, Alex, Andreas Pereira and Tom Cairney behind the striker, it was clear what we wanted for the game. I knew that we were going to have ball, and I wanted much better decisions, because I knew that it’s going to be important for us to have some control. We got something from the game and it’s time to build on that,” the coach said.

Iwobi has now scored two goals in 13 appearances in all competitions since joining Fulham on summer transfer deadline day for £20m. His first goal was in the EFL Cup against.

The Nigerian now has 19 Premier League goals in spells that have crossed Arsenal, Everton and now at Craven Cottage.
