President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed to find a lasting solution to the socio-economic and political problems facing Nigerians. He made this statement at the 11th Convocation Ceremony of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Abia State, where four sets of graduands participated in the ceremony.
Tinubu, who was represented by the Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), Professor Garba Sharubutu, emphasized that his government is working on dealing with the root cause of the problems and not just the symptoms.
He assured the nation that his administration is working towards reducing the current exorbitant prices of petrol and that some local refineries will soon commence production.
On the issue of insecurity, which Tinubu identified as a major challenge in Nigeria, he promised that it will soon become history.
However, he urged Nigerians to support and cooperate with his government in implementing the various solutions they are applying to address the present hardships.
Tinubu commended the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) for its academic and infrastructural development, despite the many challenges facing the nation. He also emphasized the critical role of universities of agriculture in the nation’s quest for food security.
The Vice Chancellor of MOUAU, Professor Maduebibisi Ofo Iwe, announced that the combined 11th Convocation produced a total of 8,229 graduates at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, out of which 121 graduated with first class.
He, however, identified the paucity of funds as a major challenge that needs to be surmounted for the institution to improve its environment.
