Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo emerges as a formidable contender in the race for this year’s Best Men’s Player Award at the Globe Soccer Awards, as reported by IWITNESSLIVE Sports.
Victor Osimhen finds himself among the nominees, facing stiff competition from 29 other football stars, including icons like Ronaldo, Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and Mohamed Salah.
The award’s high competitiveness stems from the exceptional caliber of the nominees, making it a challenging endeavor for Osimhen to secure the prestigious accolade. The Global Soccer Awards, organized annually by the Dubai Sports Council, serves as a platform to honor and celebrate the world’s top football players.
At 38, Ronaldo holds the distinction of being the oldest nominee, while Messi, at 36, ranks as the third-oldest, following behind Luka Modric, aged 38. The age dynamics add an intriguing layer to the anticipation surrounding this star-studded competition.
Messi won the award in 2005 but six-time winner Ronaldo is the only player ever to receive it more than once and is now in line to claim a seventh award.
The 2023 Globe Soccer Awards has a transparent voting system to select a winner simply by clicking on the voting link and selecting the nominee of your choice to vote for.
