Man impregnates teenage daughter, buys abortion drugs

In Ogun State, a man identified as Ganiyu Aikore is alleged to have impregnated his 17-year-old daughter (identity withheld) in the Mokola Isale Tapa area of Abeokuta, the state capital.

According to a police source on Wednesday, Aikore, upon realizing that his daughter was pregnant, reportedly sought abortion pills from a nearby pharmaceutical store.

Concerned about the potential termination of the pregnancy, the daughter and other residents approached the community chairman to report the incident. Subsequently, the chairman accompanied the daughter to the Adatan Police Division to file a complaint against her father.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, stated that Aikore was suspected of engaging in inappropriate relations with his daughter, and the pregnancy was approximately 23 weeks along.

“We have arrested him. He was suspected to have been sexually involved with his teenage daughter for a very long time. The pregnancy is 23 weeks. We are conducting further investigation,” she confirmed via a WhatsApp message on Wednesday.

Also, the police said they had recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested some suspects believed to have perpetrated the crime.

Meanwhile, in a separate development, the state’s police spokesperson on Wednesday said a Toyota Matrix car with registration number AA 26 GV had been tracked to Ode-Remo after it was stolen in Akure before it was found inside one hotel in Isara Remo.

She told our correspondent that the two suspects had been arrested and interrogated in relation to the crime, adding that further investigation was ongoing.
