Dr. Wale Adegbite, a former chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) in Ogun Chapter, has urged the Federal Government to eliminate all obstacles hindering the nation’s supply chain for goods and services.
Speaking to reporters in Ota, Ogun, Adegbite highlighted that removing these barriers would notably alleviate the country’s inflationary pressures, a concern exacerbated by the recent increase in inflation rates reported by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
Expressing worry over the persistent inflation surge impacting the prices of goods and services, the former MAN leader emphasized the necessity for government intervention.
Adegbite recommended enhancing road infrastructure and bolstering security, especially in regions pivotal for agricultural production, transportation, and the oil and gas industry, as a means to stimulate the economy.
“The country needs to produce more goods because the more we produce, the lower the prices of goods, thus reducing the prices of goods and services,” he said.
Furthermore, he suggested that the Federal Government address the issue of excessive budget deficits often covered through ‘Ways and Means,’ citing it as a significant contributor to the escalating inflation rates.
