Sanwo-Olu, Rhodes-Vivour know fate as Appeal Court delivers judgement today

The Court of Appeal in Lagos is set to deliver a judgement today on the appeal filed by the governorship candidates of the Labour Party and the Peoples Democratic Party, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Abdulazeez Olajide Adediran, respectively. They are challenging the re-election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The judgement is expected to be delivered at 3 pm, according to a notice sent out by the court to the parties involved.

In the 2023 governorship election, the Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal dismissed the case of the LP candidate, Rhodes-Vivour, who had challenged Sanwo-Olu’s victory. The tribunal declared Sanwo-Olu as the duly elected governor of the state and found Rhodes-Vivour’s petition to be without merit.

Rhodes-Vivour had requested nullification of Sanwo-Olu’s electoral victory on the grounds of non-qualification, corrupt practices, and non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
