Ogun pastor arrested for abduction, fake prophecies

A 21-year-old woman named Aliu Blessing was allegedly abducted, and a pastor named Sunday of Cherubim and Seraphim Church in the Agbado region of Ogun State has been detained on suspicion of making up the prophecy.

The Ogun State Police Command said that the victim had gone to the church to see her sick sister when the pastor told her that if she refused to have sex with him, she would die on her wedding day.

Additionally, the preacher was accused of saying that any guy who attempted to engage in sexual activity or have a connection with a woman other than himself would likewise perish.

Our correspondent discovered via the command that the lady was supposedly seized by the prophet on February 2, 2023, and taken to an undisclosed place, causing the family to suffer and become disorganized. This occurred after the purported deceit and predictions.

After more than seven months of alleged kidnapping, the victim’s uncle, Aliu Yusuf, reported to the police that Blessing’s story of how Sunday was taken to his family home in Ilaro and then to a hotel, where he was accused of having multiple, unconsented sexual encounters with her, shocked the family. Blessing returned home on November 5, 2023.

Omolola Odutola, a public relations officer for the state police, announced the arrest of the suspect and stated he had admitted to the offenses and would face legal action.

The command’s spokesperson also disclosed that the victim had been taken to the hospital after showing signs of a mental disorder.

“The suspect has been arrested, and he has since confessed to the crimes during interrogation. He is currently in our custody and will be charged in court as soon as the investigation is completed.

“The victim, on the other hand, had been taken to the hospital for medical examination after showing a psychological problem, or probably a psychiatric problem,” Odutola disclosed in a telephone interview on Tuesday.
