A short while ago, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama.
Emefiele, attired in a light green traditional outfit with a cap, was escorted into the courtroom by EFCC officials.
His appearance in court on Wednesday afternoon is in compliance with the court’s order issued on November 2.
Justice Olukayode Adeniyi, while ruling on an ex-parte application by Emefiele, had ordered on November 2 that the EFCC should either unconditionally release him or bring him to court on November 6 for bail consideration.
On November 6, Justice Adeniyi reiterated the order, but the EFCC did not release him or produce him in court.
The courtroom is currently filled, awaiting the judge’s arrival and the commencement of the proceedings.
