Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State emphasized on Monday that his administration is dedicated to revitalizing the energy, agricultural, and economic sectors in the state as part of its efforts to combat poverty and deliver the desired benefits of democracy to the citizens.
Mutfwang made these remarks during a courtesy visit at the New Government House in Jos by Dr. Markus Wauschkuhn, the Head of SEDIN Programme and Cluster Coordinator SEDEC GIZ Nigeria, and the ECOWAS Country Director.
The governor expressed his appreciation to GIZ for their significant support to Plateau State over the years, recalling their previous collaboration when he served as the Local Government Chairman of Mangu Local Government Area. During that time, GIZ supported the construction of a storage facility for potatoes, which greatly benefited the people of Mangu.
Mutfwang thanked GIZ for their technical assistance and substantial investments in Plateau State, and he sought the organization’s assistance, particularly in addressing youth unemployment through various intervention projects. He also expressed his eagerness to build upon the existing relationship with GIZ to maximize development in the state.
In his response, Dr. Markus Wauschkuhn, Head of SEDIN Programme and Cluster Coordinator SEDEC GIZ Nigeria, and ECOWAS Country Director, conveyed his gratitude for the warm reception by the governor. He emphasized that their focus in Plateau is on renewable energy, revitalizing the agricultural sector, and creating a sustainable economy for the welfare of the citizens.
Wauschkuhn reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to collaborating with Governor Mutfwang’s administration and stressed that the time is ripe to work together to enhance the living conditions of the people.
