U.S. Alerts Citizens to Elevated Threat Against Major Hotels in Nigeria

In an emergency advisory dated November 3, the United States cautioned its citizens in Nigeria to steer clear of major hotels, citing heightened threats to these establishments across the country’s larger cities. 

The advisory emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, encouraging US citizens to maintain awareness of their surroundings, adopt a low profile, and thoroughly review the travel advisory for Nigeria before choosing accommodation at any hotel.

The notice reads, “The US Government is aware of credible information that there is an elevated threat to major hotels in Nigeria’s larger cities.” 

The advisory said the Nigerian security agencies are working to counter the threat.

“The Nigerian security services are working diligently to counter the threat,” it stated.

The notice also provided the addresses and telephone numbers of the US embassy in Abuja and consulate in Lagos should any US citizen require help.
