Conditional cash transfer: Edu in Ogun to sign social register, assuage flood victims

Betta Edu, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has made her way to Ogun State for the purpose of finalizing the social register required for the federal government’s conditional cash transfer program and distributing relief supplies to the victims of the Isheri flooding.

Edu arrived in Ogun State on Friday evening, where she held a meeting with Governor Dapo Abiodun at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital. In her conversation with the media, the minister expressed her intent to visit the victims of the Isheri flood disaster to alleviate their current suffering, noting that “President Bola Tinubu is concerned about the flooding situation” in Isheri.

Edu further revealed that her visit to Ogun is aimed at providing humanitarian support and responding to those affected by the flood. She intends to personally assess the situation, identify the victims, and provide them with relief materials.

Additionally, she mentioned her plan to finalize the Ogun State social register on Saturday, enabling beneficiaries from the state to begin receiving the N25,000 conditional cash transfer.

She emphasized that her ministry would also extend support to traders in the Adire business as a means of lifting many individuals out of poverty, among other initiatives.
