Hisbah arrests eight alleged cross-dressers in Kano

The Kano Hisbah Board has apprehended eight individuals suspected of cross-dressing during a wedding in Kofar Waika, Gwale Local Government Area of the state. The Deputy Commander General of the Board, Dr. Mujaheed Aminudeen-Abubakar, issued a statement on Tuesday in Kano, sharing the details.

According to the board, the arrests were made following a tip-off from concerned citizens, who reported that several young men dressed in female Fulani attire were in attendance at a wedding, actively participating in dancing.

Upon receiving the information, the Hisbah officials promptly arrived at the wedding venue and apprehended the eight young men, including the groom, who were dressed in full female Fulani attire and were actively participating in dancing in their regalia.

The suspects reportedly confessed to their actions when arraigned before Hisbah Shari’a Court in Kano. The Presiding Judge, Khadi Tanimu-Sani, ruled that each of them should receive 10 lashes of the cane, pay a fine of N20,000, and produce one surety each, or be remanded in a correctional center for three months.
