Numerous inhabitants residing in Adesina, Lambe, Alhaji Idowu, and other streets situated in the Omituntun community within the Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State have expressed their distress over the recurring detonations of their 220KVA power transformer, particularly during the rainy season.
According to information obtained by PUNCH Metro, the transformer suffered another explosion this past Saturday during rainfall. A Lambe Street resident, Ben Uwajuale, informed our correspondent that in January, the transformer had already exploded, and engineers from Ikeja Electric had conducted some repairs. However, Uwajuale lamented that the same issue had occurred twice since the initial repairs were carried out.
“The transformer has exploded like three times this year and we would not have electricity for days,” he lamented.
The Secretary, Omituntun Community Development Association, Ismail Idowu, pleaded that IE engineers should help find a lasting solution to the problem with the transformer.
Contacted, the spokesperson for IE, Kingsley Okotie, appealed for time to rectify the fault.
“We appeal to our esteemed customers for calm, they should bear with us and be rest assured that our technical/MTCE trams are addressing the concern and they will ensure speedy resolution of such faults within our network as they arise,” Okotie said.
