Kylian Mbappe and Randal Kolo Muani Secure PSG’s 2-0 Victory Over Milan, Reclaiming Top Spot in Group F
Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe netted in the first half, and Randal Kolo Muani added a goal early in the second, leading PSG to a 2-0 triumph over Milan. This victory catapults the French side back to the summit of Group F in the Champions League.
For PSG, this game held great significance, as they sought to reassert their dominance in the group following a disappointing loss to Newcastle United in their previous outing.
But it was the visitors who looked bright early on, particularly through Rafael Leao who was having plenty of joy down the left-hand side.
The Portuguese star fired a couple of warnings to the Parisians, first on 12 minutes which failed to cause too much trouble, before a very good effort midway through the half that Gianluigi Donnarumma scrambling. The shot went just wide of the post after he had cut inside and angled a shot towards the far corner.
The warning did indeed wake up the hosts. Kylian Mbappe rolled up his socks and began to dictate the pace of the game and the intentions of his side. Soon enough, the Frenchman was on the scoresheet.
Mbappe works his magic
First, Warren Zaire-Emery did well to beat his man and lay the ball off to his captain, before the superstar performed his trademark move, cutting inside before striking the ball back the other way with the goalkeeper expecting a far-post shot.
While it took PSG a while to get started in the first half, they burst out of the traps in the second.
It was 2-0 just seven minutes into the second period. Shortly after Ousmane Dembele saw a goal disallowed, the same player fired a shot across goal which was tipped into the path of Randal Kolo Muani who had the easy task of tapping the ball home from close range.
The game was sealed late on with a goal from Kang-in Lee after a pass from Zaire-Emery to add gloss to the scoreline.
PSG managed to withstand anything that the Italians threw their way and kept a clean sheet, as Luis Enrique‘s side finish the night top of their group with six points.
