Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has taken a decisive step to curtail foreign trips for high-ranking government officials within his administration for the remainder of the year, except in cases of genuine emergencies. This directive stems from Adeleke’s firm commitment to channel the state’s financial resources towards the implementation of vital projects spanning various sectors.
The governor conveyed this directive during a State Executive Council meeting held on Monday, October 23. The meeting revolved around decisions made by the treasury board, with a primary focus on preparations for the 2024 budget and significant pronouncements related to the governance of the state. Adeleke emphasized the necessity of avoiding excessive expenditure on recurrent expenses and overheads. In light of the challenging financial situation faced by the state, he urged members of the cabinet to be willing to make personal sacrifices.
The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, confirmed this development through an official statement issued in Osogbo on Monday. Adeleke’s proactive approach underscores his dedication to prudent financial management and a heightened focus on essential projects that will benefit the people of Osun State.
