A collaborative security team, comprising military, police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilante members, successfully neutralized a suspected bandit and rescued three abducted individuals on Sunday.
The operation took place in Kanzama forest, within Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State. Malam Yahaya Sarki, the Special Assistant to Kebbi Governor on Media and Publicity, confirmed these details in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Monday.
The operation was initiated following Governor Nasir Idris’ visit to the Kalgo communities in Bunza LGA on Saturday, where he assured them of increased security measures.
During an emergency security council meeting, the governor ordered a joint operation to apprehend the bandits and ensure enhanced security for the affected villages. He also provided adequate logistical support to the joint security team and called for the deployment of additional security personnel to reinforce ongoing efforts in safeguarding lives and property within the area and throughout the state.
Sarki reported that the governor commended the dedicated security personnel for their efforts and pledged to offer all necessary support to ensure the state’s safety.
