FG signs N1bn deal with IHS Towers to build 3MTT communities

The Federal Government has entered into a N1 billion agreement with the telecommunications firm, IHS Towers, to establish educational communities throughout Nigeria as part of the 3 Million Technical Talent programs.

Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, unveiled this partnership via his official social media account on Monday.

In his announcement, Tijani explained that the N1 billion funding from IHS Towers goes beyond financial assistance and includes a commitment to cover the salaries of 37 dedicated learning community managers for each location for the upcoming three years.

“I am excited to announce a N1 Billion partnership between the @FMoCDENigeria (the ministry) and @IHSTowers to establish the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Learning Community. This initiative, which is in support of our recently launched 3MTT programme, will facilitate the set-up of learning communities in the 36 states and the FCT.

“The N1billion funding from IHS Towers also includes a commitment to paying the salaries of 37 dedicated learning community managers for each location for the next 3 years.

“This is the first in a number of partnerships that we will be securing in support of our targets, specifically for the 3MTT programme and broadly for the Knowledge pillar in our Strategic Blueprint. #3MTT #NigerianExcellence,” the statement read.

Reportedly, the 3MTT initiative, as described by Tijani, plays a pivotal role in the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda.

This program is designed to establish a pool of technical talent in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s vision to create two million digital jobs by 2025.

The ministry will identify individuals who have expressed their interest in acquiring specific skills and will shoulder the costs associated with their training.

These technical skills encompass areas like Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis and Visualization, Quality Assurance, Product Management, Data Science, Animation, AI/Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Game Development, Cloud Computing, and Dev Ops.
