A student at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria, Abdullahi Ibrahim, has been apprehended by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Bauchi State on suspicion of being involved in the alleged murder of a 17-year-old secondary school student.
Ilelaboye Oyejide, the Corps Commandant, disclosed that the 500-level Veterinary Medicine student was taken into custody in Misau Local Government Area of the state in connection with the teenager’s demise.
He made this announcement during a press briefing in Bauchi.
According to Oyejide, the lifeless body of the deceased was found wrapped in a cloth and abandoned at Misau bypass on October 20. It was subsequently taken to General Hospital Misau, where he was declared dead and then returned to his family for burial.
In response to this, the command launched a thorough investigation into the incident, deploying a highly skilled intelligence team to Misau.
Oyejide further revealed that their investigation unveiled a chat history between Ibrahim and the deceased, Usman. The conversations indicated that the suspect had made homosexual advances towards Usman, even sharing explicit photos.
“When the deceased decided to meet the suspect, a tragic confrontation ensued, leading to the stabbing of Usman. Subsequently, his lifeless body was concealed in a white cloth and left where it was later discovered,” he explained.
The Commandant stated that during the investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and is expected to face charges in court. He claimed that the suspect admitted the deceased approached him with a knife, resulting in a struggle that ended with him stabbing the deceased in self-defense.
