Three Islamic Clerics Arrested in Ibadan for Alleged Beheading of Man

The Oyo State Criminal Investigation Department is currently holding three Islamic clerics in connection with the alleged beheading of a man in the state’s capital, Ibadan.
According to our investigations, the victim, who had been working for one of the suspected killers, was enticed to a remote area in Moniya, Akinyele Local Government Area, where he was reportedly killed. The ruse used to lure him was a false promise of a job opportunity, and his head was subsequently severed.
The suspects were apprehended in Apete, Ido Local Government Area of the state.

However, many residents expressed shock over the incident.

One of the residents, who did not want her name in print, said, “It was so pathetic. One of the alleged murderers was a popular cleric known for his distinct turban among the Islamic community of Alapata.”

The Apete Divisional Police Officer, CSP Akande Rufus Adegoke, who confirmed the incident to our correspondent, said the alleged assailants were landlords in his jurisdiction, but the heinous act was said to have been perpetrated in Moniya.

He said, “The case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department, Iyaganku, for further investigation.”
