Olawale Edun, who serves as the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, has been designated as the Chairman of the African Governors’ Forum for the World Bank.
The African Governors’ Forum plays a pivotal role by fostering discussions among African finance ministers, central bank governors, and representatives from the World Bank.
The Ministry of Finance made this momentous appointment public on Saturday through an official statement posted on the social media platform, X, formerly known as Twitter.
The statement read, “The appointment presents a unique opportunity for Nigeria and the implementation of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“Nigeria’s Minister and Coordinating Minister of the Economy Mr. Wale Edun has been appointed to Chair the African Governors’ Forum of the World Bank.
“This marks the first time Nigeria has assumed the role of Chairman in 60 years.”
