Boniface Attributes Success to Teammates

Nigeria’s Victor Boniface, who made a €20 million move to Bayer Leverkusen from Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in the last transfer window, is demonstrating a remarkable sense of humility by crediting his teammates for his impressive performance in Germany, as per IWITNESSLIVE Sports.
With seven goals and two assists in seven Bundesliga games, Boniface has become one of Europe’s most feared strikers. His outstanding performances earned him both the Player of The Month and Rookie of The Month awards for August in the Bundesliga, along with nominations for Best Player of The Month in September.
The 22-year-old striker has played a pivotal role in Die Werkself’s exceptional start to the 2023/24 season, with the team currently leading the Bundesliga table after seven matchdays and achieving victory in all but one of their matches this season.

Despite being instrumental to Leverkusen’s impressive run as they seek to win the Bundesliga title for the first time in their history, Boniface remains adamant that the Die Werkself’s success is down to the work the whole team has put in.

“It’s not down to me. Leverkusen signed six or seven players; mine is to help the team, and they’re doing the same. This is not just about me, it’s also for the team,” he told OmaSports TV.

“Coming to a top club like Leverkusen, playing for the first team, and helping the team has been good. For me, it’s a surprise, but it’s football, anything can happen.”
He also heaped praise on manager Xabi Alonso for how he’s managed the team.

“He’s a great guy, great coach and a great footballer. The passion is there and he knows what he wants. Working with him makes me happy.”

Boniface is currently in Portugal with the Super Eagles as they prepare to face Saudi Arabia and Mozambique in friendly games on Friday (today) and Monday.
