Kogi police arrest boy who allegedly buried brother alive

The Kogi State Police Command apprehended Goodness Oshodi on Thursday for allegedly attempting to bury his younger brother, Friday Oshodi, alive. This drastic action was taken as a form of punishment for Friday’s alleged theft of N10,000 belonging to their mother. The incident transpired in Apamisede community near the Army Barracks, within the Adavi Local Government Area on the outskirts of Lokoja, Kogi State.

Fortunately, a compassionate neighbor intervened, exhumed Friday, and saved his life.

An eyewitness, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that the boys’ mother had instructed her eldest son, Goodness Oshodi, to discipline Friday for his alleged theft of N10,000. In compliance with their mother’s directive, the elder brother decided to bury Friday alive, but a compassionate neighbor came to the rescue.

The eyewitness also shared that when questioned about why he chose such a harsh punishment, Goodness claimed that he was merely following their mother’s instructions to discipline his brother for stealing her N10,000.

Goodness explained that their mother was absent as she had gone to church. The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, has confirmed the incident and stated that Goodness is under arrest and currently undergoing interrogation.

“Yes, we are aware. The boy (Goodness) has been arrested. Investigation is ongoing as to why and how such a thing could happen,” Aya said.

According to him, Goodness went and dug a pit, and buried his brother alive. However, Friday was rescued by neighbours while the suspect, Goodness has been taken into custody.
