The Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Umuahia, Abia State, has issued a verdict on Friday, dismissing the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) petition against Governor Alex Otti and the Labour Party.
In her ruling, the tribunal’s presiding judge, Hon. Justice H. T. D Gwadah, stated that the PDP and other petitioners had “failed to substantiate their three claims and their petitions were dismissed due to lack of merit.”
These three claims included Otti’s alleged disqualification to run for the governorship, his purported non-membership in the Labour Party, and the provision of a legitimate National Youth Service Corps certificate, as well as their inability to prove allegations of corrupt practices.
The tribunal has now shifted its focus to the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) petition against the Labour Party.
