The condition of Balarabe Abbas Lawal, the ministerial nominee who passed out on Wednesday during screening, has been updated by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Balarabe, the second candidate to be tested at the Senate plenary on Wednesday following Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, passed out more than 15 minutes into the screening process.
While Kaduna South Senator Sunday Marshall Katung was speaking about Balarabe’s administration experience in Kaduna, the nominee, who was seated at the stage, passed out.
Following Balarabe’s reading of his biography to the senators, the Kaduna lawmaker endorsed Balarabe’s nomination for a cabinet position and stated that none of the state’s three senators had any issues with it.
When the nominee passed out before Senator Katung had completed speaking, Akpabio said, “Give him water, give him water and sugar!”
Akpabio stopped the live broadcast of the movie and ordered all journalists and cameras out of the Senate chamber.
Before calling the final candidate, Ayodele Olawande, Akpabio stated that Balarabe had acknowledged being weary after having overworked for several days before to the screening.
“The nominee, Mr Balarabe Abbas Lawal said he was quit exhausted, and that he rushed to Abuja for his ministerial screening,” the Senate President said.
