The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, has issued an order to investigate the complaints regarding inadequate food provisions for troops stationed in the North-Eastern region, where they are engaged in counterinsurgency operations.
He has assured both the public and military personnel that a comprehensive inquiry will be conducted to uncover the underlying issues behind these complaints.
In a statement released on Tuesday by Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, it was emphasized that the COAS takes these allegations seriously. Furthermore, it was reiterated that the Army, under his leadership, places a high priority on the welfare of its troops.
The statement also highlighted that the welfare of troops is a critical component of the COAS Command Philosophy, which is dedicated to providing effective administration and ensuring a highly motivated and capable force.
“The NA, therefore, takes these allegations very seriously and the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has directed immediate investigation into the complaints to ascertain their veracity and unravel the circumstances.
“The NA wishes to assure the public and all NA personnel that a thorough investigation will be conducted to get to the bottom of these claims.”
Onyema quoted the COAS as assuring the troops that the supply chain and the quality of food given to them would be examined.
