Members of organized labor, including the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Oyo State, were conspicuously absent from the main bowl of the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, the chosen venue for the state’s 63rd Independence Day celebration. Governor Seyi Makinde’s representation was also noted during the event.
The event primarily featured the active participation of students from both public and private schools representing various parts of the state. The commencement of the event was officially marked with the arrival of the deputy governor at approximately 10 a.m.
It was evident that the atmosphere at the venue and its surroundings lacked the usual exuberance, enthusiasm, and grandeur typically associated with such occasions.
