CJN to swear in 23 Federal High Court judges

A total of 23 newly appointed judges for the Federal High Court are scheduled to take their oath of office on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. This swearing-in ceremony will be conducted by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, and will take place in the Main Courtroom of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

In a statement released on Sunday by the court’s Director of Information, Dr. Festus Akande, the names of the new judges were listed as follows:

1. Dipeolu Deinde Isaac (Ogun State)
2. Ogundare Kehinde Olayiwola (Ekiti State)
3. Agbaje Olufunmilola Adetutu (Lagos State)
4. Musa Kakaki (Kaduna State)
5. Abdullahi Muhammad Dan-Ige (Sokoto State)
6. Sharon Tanko Ishaya (Kebbi State)
7. Salim Olasupo Ibrahim (Ogun State)
8. Yilwa Hauwa Joseph (Gombe State)
9. Wigwe-Oreh Chituru Joy (Rivers State)
10. Owoeye Alexander Oluseyi (Kogi State)
11. Anyalewa Onoja-Alapa (Benue State)
12. Amina Aliyu Mohammad (Katsina State)
13. Abiodun Jordan Adeyemi (Kwara State)
14. Hauwa Buhari (Federal Capital Territory)
15. Aishatu Auta Ibrahim (Borno State)
16. Hussaini Dadan-Garba (Bauchi State)

Additionally, a valedictory court session will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, to honor the late Justice Chima Centus Nweze. This session will take place in the Main Courtroom of the Supreme Court. Justice Nweze passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2023, in Abuja, following a brief illness, at the age of 64.

“As customary, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, will preside over the session which will, among other things, feature the presentation of tributes by the Hon. Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria, and President of the Nigerian Bar Association, in honour of the departed Jurist, “the statement added.
