LASEPA reaffirms commitment to environmental law enforcement

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has restated its dedication to enforcing environmental laws and has pledged to take stringent measures against persistent polluters to protect the environment.

Mr. Kayode Bello, the Director of Monitoring, Compliance, and Enforcement at LASEPA, emphasized in a statement on Sunday that their commitment to environmental enforcement is unwavering, and they will spare no effort to hold those who pollute the environment for their personal gain accountable.

“We firmly believe that robust enforcement of environmental regulations and laws is a critical step towards addressing pressing environmental issues, to serve as a deterrent to others and further protect the right of innocent residents to a more conducive and friendly environment.”

Bello emphasized that LASEPA’s renewed commitment to environmental sustainability aligns with the vision of the Commissioner for the Environment, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab. Their goal is to promote a healthier environment and improve the quality of life for all Lagos residents, regardless of their social status.

He also expressed their readiness to collaborate with other government agencies, local communities, and environmental stakeholders to enhance collective efforts in preserving the environment.

Furthermore, Bello mentioned that the agency would launch an aggressive public advocacy campaign to raise awareness about the importance of environmental protection and the consequences of environmental violations.
