Sheffield United, the English club, has sadly reported the passing of their midfielder, Maddy Cusack, who was only 27 years old.
Maddy Cusack, who recently signed a one-year contract extension with the club and was appointed as one of the team captains last month, is said to have departed on Wednesday, September 20.
“The player had left an indelible mark in Sheffield United’s history, having joined the club in 2019 and achieving the significant milestone of surpassing 100 games with The Blades, making her the longest-serving member on the roster.
In addition to her respected role as a player for the women’s team, Maddy Cusack also served as a marketing executive in the offices at Bramall Lane.
Sheffield United’s Chief Executive, Stephen Bettis, expressed his deep sorrow, saying, ‘This is truly heart-wrenching news for everyone associated with Bramall Lane. Maddy held a unique position, being a part of multiple facets of Sheffield United, and she was cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her remarkable personality and unwavering professionalism were a testament to her family – her absence will be keenly felt. As we process this devastating news and move forward, the club will provide the utmost support to Maddy’s family, friends, and colleagues.'”
