Former Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Badmus Dolapo, has revisited her past encounter with Nigerian musician Naira Marley, highlighting that she faced significant backlash after expressing her concerns regarding his lifestyle and comments about women in 2019. At the time, Naira Marley had tweeted that having large buttocks was more valuable than obtaining a Master’s degree.
In light of the recent controversy surrounding the death of Mohbad, a former signee of Naira Marley’s label, Dolapo expressed her frustration with individuals continually mentioning her on social media. She emphasized that the relevant authorities are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the case.
She wrote on her Instagram page, “So many tags on me, I plead I’m [sic] left out of tagging, relevant authorities are on this matter. When I singlehandedly spoke up against this character and the imminent danger it portrays, I was bashed both inside and out, a danger not curtailed will become ‘hydra-headed’, my heart is with the departed and everything that represents him.”
The former PRO had in 2019 responded to Marley in a post. She said, “So, is having a big body part now considered superior to having educational or vocational qualifications? I still can’t get over this! We need to restore sanity to our system and stop tolerating public nuisances. It’s mediocrity for anyone to applaud a delinquent and unproductive dead duck hiding under the guise of making music, obnoxious music for that matter.
“My advice to the younger ones: let no one confuse you that having a good body part is great, but having educational or vocational qualifications is more important! It’s non-negotiable! Your body part cannot give you a sustainable existence, only good educational or vocational qualifications will. Be guided! #saynotoharddrugs #harddrugdestroys.”
In response, Marley retaliated with a post stating, “This Instagram police is claiming she wants to have a relationship with me, but in reality, she’s not attractive.”
It was previously reported in 2022 that Mohbad had claimed he was subjected to physical assault by his management team when he requested a change of manager.
