Sao Tome captain says they’ll thrash Super Eagles

Luis Leal, the captain of Sao Tome and Principe, stated that his team was in Uyo to “thrash” and “humiliate” the Super Eagles.

The Super Eagles have already qualified for the 2023 AFCON, making Sunday’s last group qualifier meaningless. Sao Tome will also finish last in the group even if they win.

With 12 points from five games, the Super Eagles are in first place in Group A. They have scored 16 goals while allowing only one, while Sao Tome has a point, has given up 17 goals while scoring three.

In the qualification tournament, the minnows have yet to come out on top.

Nigeria’s 10-0 demolition of the islanders in Morocco last year set a new record for the nation’s largest international victory.

Sao Tome, on the other hand, is making every effort to win this match on Sunday as they have only listed professionals who are based abroad.

“We are here to thrash and humiliate the Super Eagles of Nigeria in Uyo,” boasted much-travelled striker Luis Leal, who scored a historic brace for his country against Sierra Leone in April.

“This is our World Cup final.”
