Over 40 Residents Kidnapped, Several Missing As Terrorists Sack 15 Taraba State Communities

In just three days, terrorists—locally known as bandits—have abducted no less than 40 persons from fifteen communities in the Taraba State’s Bali Local Government Area.

When the bandits attacked the villages and settlements on August 4 through August 6, 2023, there was a kidnapping.

Several other people, including women and children, are still missing after the most recent attacks on Wednesday night in the Garba Chede regions of Bali Council, according to a story in the Daily Trust.

Several of the people ran to Garba Chede town, while hundreds of others fled their homes and are now hiding in the underbrush.

One of the villagers from Garbatau community, which was also attacked, Musa Mainoma, said residents of the affected villages have deserted the area and are now taking refuge in Garba Chede, Sunkani and Pamamga towns.

He said many of those that fled are still missing and parents are still searching for their missing children.

Mainoma stated that the bandits in their numbers rode on motorcycles and attacked the farming communities.

He said the bandits kidnapped many villagers and rustled cattle and also looted shops in all the villages they attacked.

A resident of Garba Chede, Dodo who spoke to the paper explained that over three thousand people that ran away from the farming communities during the attacks are now taking refuge in Garba Chede town.

He said residents of Garba Chede town have offered free accommodation to the victims of bandits’ attacks.
