Viral Videos of Sleeping Lawyers at PEPT Trial Spark Online Reactions
Viral videos showing lawyers dozing off during the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) in Abuja on September 6 have stirred conversations online. The PEPT was in the process of delivering its verdict on the February 25 presidential election, which declared President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
Five political parties, including the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), Action Peoples Party (APP), Allied Peoples Movement (APM), and the Action Alliance (AA), filed separate petitions at the PEPT, challenging Tinubu’s victory.
However, many weren’t prepared for the ‘sleeping marathon’ view that greeted the populace following the decision by the tribunal to televise the judgement on national TV.
Several lawyers and notable personalities were captured in different positions, dozing away.
Reacting to the clips, Soso Soberekon suggested that all the lawyers hired by the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi ought to refund his money.
He said: “All these Peter Obi lawyers suppose refund the man his money.”
