The Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) has taken action regarding the evidence presented by Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP) in their petition against the election of President Bola Tinubu.
In its judgment, the court decided to strike out the evidence provided by 10 out of the 13 witnesses called by the petitioners. The court’s reasoning was that these witnesses, who were summoned at the request of the petitioners, did not file their written statements, which contained their evidence, within the 21-day time frame stipulated by the Electoral Act of 2022.
Additionally, the court rejected the documents and reports, including an analysis report, that were submitted by the petitioners through these 10 witnesses.
Furthermore, the court pointed out that some of these witnesses had a vested interest in the case’s outcome, and the reports they provided were generated during the ongoing legal proceedings.
