12 dead, 6 injured in Kogi auto crash – FRSC

The Abuja Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has reported that a total of 12 individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident on the Obajana-Lokoja Expressway in Kogi State on Sunday. The Corps Public Education Officer, ACM Bisi Kazeem, confirmed this casualty count in a statement released in Abuja and provided to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday.

Kazeem also noted that six individuals sustained various injuries in the accident, which occurred around 10.30 pm. The accident involved a Toyota Hiace Bus with Registration No. MKA515ZD and a Sono Truck. All 18 passengers in the bus were adult males.

The primary cause of the accident, according to Kazeem, was “speed violation,” which led to the drivers losing control of their vehicles. He quoted FRSC Corps Marshal Dauda Biu as urging motorists and other road users to adhere to the prescribed speed limits on all roads, emphasizing that doing so would significantly reduce road accidents.
