Manchester United targets Reguilon

Manchester United are reportedly ‘seriously considering’ a move for Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon as they look to replace the injured Luke Shaw.

Shaw has been ruled out for an extended period, and while initial concerns believed the injury to be weeks not months, the severity of his muscle injury is now worse and has left Erik ten Hag in panic mode.

Alternative left-back and £15million summer signing in 2022, Tyrell Malacia, has been out of action since pre-season and no return date has been set.

This has left Ten Hag with Diogo Dalot – who has featured predominately at right-back, as his only senior left-back option, whilst 20-year-old Alvaro Fernandez has seemingly not impressed after spending last season on loan at Preston North End and looks set to leave on loan again.

United had pursued a deal to sign Chelsea’s unwanted £62m defender Marc Cucurella on a loan deal, but The Athletic have reported that the deal has been ‘complicated’ after he played for the Blues in the Carabao Cup against AFC Wimbledon on Wednesday (August 30)
