The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has apprehended a driver who employed both foreign and Nigerian number plates on a single vehicle.
The driver was operating a Volkswagen (Golf 3) with a Kano number plate (BBJ746AA) displayed at the front, alongside a foreign plate (CV 51UMC) positioned at the rear. This violation was detected within the Idu operational area of the FRSC in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, thanks to credible intelligence gathered by the tactical team.
Following a preliminary investigation carried out by the Corps Intelligence Unit, the impounded Volkswagen and the driver have been handed over to the Life Camp Divisional Police Command in the FCT for further interrogation and potential legal action.
In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by its spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, the corps urged the general public, especially those engaging in this illicit behavior, to take note that “tactical teams of the Corps have been strategically placed to ensure that all suspects are arrested and their vehicles impounded at sight for onward prosecution”, are actively working to apprehend offenders and seize their vehicles on the spot for subsequent legal proceedings.
The Corps Marshal, Dauda Ali Biu, had issued a nationwide directive to crack down on all vehicles that are unstable, unregistered, or improperly registered.
Kazeem emphasized that special operations are underway as FRSC patrol teams maintain vigilance to ensure the arrest of all involved in such violations.
