A total of 66,055 Primary six students participated in the Common Entrance (Placement) Examination for admission into Junior Secondary School classes in Kwara State for the 2023/2024 academic year, which is set to begin in September.
A statement from the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Peter Amogbonjaye, confirmed the smooth and peaceful conduct of the state’s Common Entrance Examination across all 16 local government areas.
Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, praised the successful administration of this year’s placement examination and encouraged teachers to continue their efforts in enhancing the educational standards in the state. She reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to revitalizing educational development.
The Director of the Curriculum and Assessment Department, Abdukadir Sheu, commended this year’s placement examination as one of the finest. He commended the state government for its bold reform efforts, highlighting Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s significant achievements in education compared to previous administrations.
Adebayo Idowu, one of the students who sat for the placement examination at Government Secondary School, Ilorin, expressed contentment with the examination’s organization and hoped to meet the required score for admission into the flagship school.
During her visits, the Permanent Secretary attended several schools, including St. Anthony Secondary School, Government High School (Adeta), United Community Secondary School, Government Secondary School (Cherubim and Seraphim College), Bishop Smith Memorial College, and Queen Elizabeth School, all located in the Ilorin metropolis.
