The Ogun State Government has taken delivery of an initial shipment of 3,000 bags of rice donated by the Federal Government. This is part of their initiative to provide grains to citizens, aiming to alleviate the impact of the fuel subsidy removal.
Mr. Olatokunbo Talabi, the Secretary to the Government of Ogun State, confirmed this news on Friday during a press interaction. He mentioned that distribution would begin once the repackaging process for the grains is completed.
Additionally, Talabi affirmed that the state government has received funds from the Federal Government specifically for procuring grains. These funds are intended to be used for distributing the grains among the state’s residents.
He emphasized that the state government is actively procuring more grains to supplement those provided by the Federal Government, ensuring a broader coverage for the residents.
Talabi specified, “We will prioritize the distribution of these commodities to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, individuals with physical challenges, and women.”
Furthermore, he shared that a committee comprising highly credible individuals has already been established by the state government to oversee the equitable distribution of these relief supplies.
